Why was I charged twice?Updated 13 hours ago
If you see a duplicate charge on your bank statement, it's most likely due to an authorization hold, a common practice used by banks to temporarily reserve funds during a transaction.
What is an Authorization Hold?
An authorization hold (also known as a "pre-auth") is placed by your bank to verify that funds are available. This hold appears as a pending or duplicate charge but is not an actual second charge. It will automatically be released based on your bank’s policies:
- Debit card holds: Typically clear within 1–5 business days
- Credit card holds: May remain for up to 30 days, depending on the issuing bank
What Should You Do?
- If both charges are still showing after the expected time frame, we recommend reaching out to your bank or payment provider first to confirm whether the charge is still an authorization.
- If they confirm that a duplicate charge was processed in error, please request an official bank letter verifying the issue and contact our support team.
- We’ll be happy to investigate and resolve it as quickly as possible.
